EDUCATIONAL MINISTRIES

Educational Ministries have a connection to the community at large, the parish community, the Directors of the various ministries at the parish, the people who serve on Parish Councils, and those who exercise leadership roles on behalf of the parish. Specifically: Adult Education, Delta,  Ecumenical and Interreligious, Extension, and the RCIA. For information regarding any of the Executive Ministries, please contact Gus Concilio at (215) 482-4264, ext. 23 or gconcilio@stmarymanayunk.com.

Adult Education-

Delta- Delta is a DVD-based adult educational program which was created to help with post-baptismal catechesis and as a component to the RCIA. Educational Ministries plans, promotes, and hosts the Delta program as well as coordinating all materials to be used in conjunction with Delta.

Ecumenical and Interreligious Ministries: This ministry oversees efforts which serve to establish and nurture relationships of mutual respect and collaboration with members of other faith communities which are situated near St. Mary of the Assumption Parish. This ministry serves to foster relationships with non-Catholic Christian denominations as well as non-Christian religions and congregations.

Extension Ministries: This ministry oversees the development of relationships and collaborative efforts between the parish community of St. Mary of the Assumption Parish and parishes, either within the United States or overseas, which strive to bring the Good News of God's love to others despite the fact that the parishes are situated in the midst of impoverished conditions. Great efforts are exercised regarding the concept of relationship-building between staff/members of St. Mary of the Assumption Parish and staff/members of the other parishes which are sometimes referred to as "Sister Parishes."

RCIA- Educational ministries oversees the whole RCIA process which includes meeting and interviewing prospective catechumens and candidates, working with the Liturgical department to set up meaningful liturgies, and walking with the prospective catechumen/candidate to properly form them in the Catholic faith.

Misc. Communications and the Pastoral/Finance Council fall under misc. when appropriate. The Director of Educational Ministries designs the website and does advertising for the parish. The Director is also the liaison between the pastor and the pastoral and finance councils.
